Meet Pavel in Bratislava

Curious how professional translators use AI and technology today? Wondering how to localize software into English or become a freelance digital nomad? These are just some of the topics covered in the courses taught by Pavel Král in the English Department at Palacký University's Faculty of Arts in Olomouc.

Though his academic background is in linguistics, Pavel originally graduated from high school with a focus on electrical engineering and later explored mathematics and physics. His passion lies in language and translation, yet his technical roots remain an important part of his expertise. At the university, he teaches IT and CAT tool courses, bridging the gap between translation and information technology.

A dedicated educator, Pavel believes in practical, hands-on learning. He stays connected with graduates, many of whom have gone on to translate mobile apps for global companies or localize popular video games like FIFA and The Sims. As the department’s liaison for student internships and real-world training, he is committed to preparing the next generation of language service professionals.

Inside the Session

Pavel Král, educator and expert in translation and technology from Palacký University, will join the Academic Panel at #MCE2025. Drawing on his experience in teaching CAT tools, localization, and AI in translation, Pavel will offer insights into how academic programs can better prepare students for real-world challenges in the language industry.
